Event Description: A career in nonprofit management offers great potential for professionals who want to transform passionate work and service into a “dream job.” Understanding the basics of nonprofit startups and management within the nonprofit sector helps up-and-coming and seasoned managers make critical decisions that support the nonprofit mission.The cost of workshop is $119 including lunch. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history, scope, and impact of nonprofits and how developing and supporting a clear mission is critical to the success of the organization. At the completion of the workshops participants will be able to: *Describe the historical, philosophical, economic, religious, political and social forces that shape development, role and significance of nonprofits and civil society. *Appreciate the contribution the nonprofit sector makes on quality of life. *Describe the size, impact, types, and organizational design structure of nonprofit organizations from an American and international perspective. *Discover the breadth of nonprofit organizations in the nonprofit sector *Identify the characteristics associated with the for-profit, nonprofit, and government/public sectors. *Define mission orientation for a nonprofit organization. *Define characteristics of an effective mission statement. *Analyze effectiveness of the mission statement as it pertains to identified community needs. *Write a mission statement that addresses identified one or more community needs
