Homeward Bound WNC, is a local nonprofit whose mission is preventing and ending homelessness in our community through permanent housing and support.
They find homes for our community’s most vulnerable with client-centered programs that embrace a nonjudgmental approach to treating people with dignity and respect. Since 2006, they have placed over 2,180 individuals, families, and veterans into permanent housing and 89% have not returned to homelessness. AHOPE, Western North Carolina’s only homeless service day center, has always met a crucial need in the community. Almost everyone experiencing homelessness in the area goes through AHOPE, which services as a hub for community resources/information and is also the first step to housing.
After years of planning, design, fundraising, and renovation, Homeward Bound’s new remolded AHOPE Day Center is finally ready to make its debut. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held outside on March 10th (Wednesday) at AHOPE on 19 North Ann Street in downtown Asheville. Following the ribbon cutting, small group tours of the new facility will be hosted by Homeward Bound staff and participants must adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols at all times – including wearing masks and social distancing of at least 6 feet. A virtual ribbon cutting ceremony will also be streamed live on Facebook at 2 pm WednesdayMarch 10th. To attend, visit Virtual Ribbon Cutting.
Please park at the Firestone parking lot on Patton Avenue and North Ann Street.
