Event Description: The New York Studio for Stage & Screen in Asheville (NYS3) invites aspiring actors and anyone who has an interest or curiosity in learning the craft to Introduction to Acting class. This exciting new class explores the foundational elements of acting including: voice, movement, improv and acting technique for film and theatre. NYS3 additionally provides a 2 year Professional Track Program in Theatre, Film and VoiceOver for the serious aspiring actor as well as a la carte classes for those who are looking to polish their acting skills or just to try something new that will enrich their lives. The school provides not only the technical and business aspects to make it as a fully versed actor in the industry, but also a nurturing, dynamic, fun environment for learning. Introduction to Acting class is a 6-week course that will begin on April 2. Class will be held every Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:30 pm until May 7. Introduction to Acting Class Instructors include Groundlings Member and previously NYU Improv Instructor Tom Chalmers; television and film actor, recording artist, musical entertainer, director, stage actor, and cruise ship headliner, Timothy O’ Keefe; almost 30 years instructor, teacher, director, and actor at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Martin Rader; MS, PT, mAmSAT, certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, Idelle Packer; and actor, director, dancer, choreographer, instructor and director of NYS3, Richard Handy. ___________________________________________________________ Class size is limited.
